In a report by GMA News Online, current Department of Public Works and Highways secretary Vince Dizon is returning to the Department of Transportation. Dizon will once again be the DOTr secretary, a post he held from February 2025 to August of that same year.
Current DOTr secretary Giovanni Lopez will be switching places with Dizon as the head of the DPWH. The sudden shift was announced by Presidential Communications Office secretary Lino Cayetano, saying, “We are shifting gears to accelerate reform. Secretary Dizon goes to the DOTr to fix the daily commute. Secretary Lopez goes to the DPWH to make sure the reforms there last.”

So far, the DPWH has been working on finishing delayed infrastructure, addressing flood-control problems, and repairing roads, including the rehabilitation of EDSA. The DOTr, meanwhile, has been focused on improving the EDSA Busway and coordinating with the DPWH on big projects like the North-South Commuter Railway.
