Romanda Hombir has described her crowning as the Miss World Africa as a “dream come true”.
The South African beauty queen competed at the Miss World pageant in Vietnam on Saturday, 5 September, where she made it to the Top 6.
The 27-year-old earned the first high placement since Rolene Strauss’s title win in 2014.
ROMANDA HOMBIR ON WINNING MISS WORLD AFRICA TITLEOn Saturday, Romanda competed in the Miss World pageant finale in Vietnam, which Joheirry Mola Dominguez of the Dominican Republic ultimately won.
The clinical audiologist made it to the Top 6, earning the title of Miss World Africa.
She now boasts South Africa’s highest Miss World placement since 2014 –when beauty queen Rolene Strauss won the coveted crown.
On her Instagram account, Romanda described the moment as a “dream come true”.
She shared: “I am deeply grateful to now be part of the @missworld family as Miss World Africa🌍✨. I look forward to the incredible journey ahead, the lives we will touch, and the meaningful impact we will create together.
She added, “Here’s to new beginnings, sisterhood, purpose, and making a difference together”.
‘I HOPE AFRICA IS PROUD’
Speaking in a post-pageant interview, Romanda Hombir stated that she carried her new title of Miss World Africa with “pride and joy”
She said: “I’m hoping that my country is proud, that my continent is proud and that the world can see that Africa is actively working towards improving our countries and being united in ensuring our children are getting the love and care they deserve”
Romanda felt “celebrated and honoured” for the work she had done in healthcare as a clinical audiologist in underprivileged areas.
She continued: “I’m carrying that message even further, not only for our children, but for every marginalised community that they are seen, they do matter, and that we are ready to assist them”.
