This 1963 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was first delivered to Dawson Taylor Chevrolet in Detroit, Michigan, with a 327ci L84 V8 paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The car was reportedly used in drag races by the original owner before being sold in an inoperable condition in 1978. It remained in a disassembled state through the seller’s acquisition in 2022. Restoration work under current ownership resulted in passing the NCRS Performance Verification Test in August 2025, receiving NCRS Top Flight awards at the Chapter, Regional, and National level, and an NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence Award at the 2026 National Convention. The car is refinished in tan over Saddle leather upholstery and equipped with a Positraction differential, a beige convertible top, 15″ steel wheels, four-wheel power-assisted disc brakes, a cabin heater, an AM radio, chrome bumpers, and retractable headlights. This C2 convertible is now offered with a build sheet, manufacturer’s literature, awards, NCRS judging sheets & correspondence, a hardtop, and a clean Arkansas title in the seller’s name.

The fiberglass body was painted at the factory in Saddle Tan (932) and was refinished following bodywork in 2023. Features include a beige convertible soft top, flip-up headlights, fender vents, quad taillights, chrome bumperettes, and dual exhaust tips that exit through the rear valance. Further work involved refinishing chrome elements, replacing the front grille, and replacing the weatherstripping on the hard and soft tops. The front upper surround and lower valance were damaged and replaced with reproduction parts during the restoration.

Steel 15” wheels feature three-eared knock-off spinner-style hubcaps and are mounted with reproduction BF Goodrich whitewall tires. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear.  Braking is handled by four-wheel power-assisted drums. The suspension was overhauled during the car’s refurbishment.

The two bucket seats were re-trimmed in Saddle leather in August 2024 and are accompanied by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include a heater, a push-button AM radio, power windows, and an analog clock. Additional work included rebuilding the lap belts and replacing the door sill plates.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,500-rpm redline as well as gauges for amperage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 38k miles, approximately 200 of which have been added under current ownership.

The 327ci L84 V8 featured Rochester mechanical fuel injection and a high-lift camshaft, producing a factory-rated 360 horsepower. The fuel injection system was rebuilt in November 2019, and the engine was rebuilt in 2022, which included boring the cylinders 0.030″ over, replacing the pistons, resurfacing the heads, and grinding and polishing the crankshaft. A tar top-style case covers a Braille AGM battery that was installed in January 2026, and the engine oil was changed in March 2026.

The engine stamping is shown above. The RF suffix corresponds with a 360-horsepower, 327ci V8 for use with a manual transmission. CCAS trim tag and engine stamp pad affirmation certificates are shown in the gallery.

The four-speed manual transmission and Positraction differential were both overhauled during the aforementioned refurbishment. A Quanta reproduction fuel tank was also installed.

The Duntov Mark of Excellence Award is achieved by scoring 97% or higher at a national or regional meet, passing a performance verification test, and then scoring 97% or higher at the NCRS National Convention.
