Adeleke Adeniyi, a mini-truck driver based in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital, says he borrowed N3.5m to support the re-election bids of President Bola Tinubu, Opeyemi Bamidele, senate leader, and Steve Fatoba, a member of the state house of assembly.
According to a video posted by Ekiti State Television (EKTV) on Facebook, Adeniyi displayed a Wema Bank cheque indicating N2m for Tinubu, N1m for Bamidele and N500,000 for Fatoba.
“I am supporting Mr President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his second-term ambition. I have borrowed money. I want to use this money to support him because he’s doing a very great job,” he said.
“I am fully ready to go out to campaign for him. And I’m going to use this song to back him up. On your mandate, we shall stand.”
While appealing to Nigerians to vote for Tinubu in the upcoming election, Adeniyi said he believed the president would deliver more benefits if re-elected.
“I will appeal to my fellow Nigerians that we should demonstrate love by giving him, by voting him for his second term in office, because we are still going to see much more, more than what we have received,” he said.
The driver added that Bamidele has delivered critical projects that have greatly impacted lives in Ekiti, describing the federal lawmaker as a “good leader”.
“Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, this man, I pray that we are still going to higher places. Most times, I look at the kind of projects that you always put on, you always supported. It always encouraged me that, no, indeed, this is a good leader,” he said.
The driver, who operates around the BAO Timber market along Ilawe Rroad in Ado-Ekiti, also made a similar move in February when he reportedly borrowed money through the digital lending platform, OPay, to brand a vehicle in support of the second term bid of Biodun Oyebanji, governor of the state.
