Since when is a clearly labelled package meant to become a free-for-all?
Having spent a large chunk of my adult life living in apartments, I am all too aware of what a headache it can be to get anything delivered. I have dealt with front doors that delivery people can't get through, phone calls about packages that always come when I'm out of the house, and rampant parcel thieves who take their pick of anything that can't fit in a personal mailbox. With online shopping being more popular than ever, you might think the people who run apartment complexes would figure out a solution that works for both their residents and the people delivering to them, but unfortunately, that isn't always commonplace. I miss living in a place that had an actual reception.
Despite these inconveniences, most apartment dwellers are going to get mail delivered to them no matter what the setup is. They have a right to receive their stuff with ease, and without it being tampered with. You would hope that you could trust your neighbors with any deliveries that you may have if you are not there to accept them, but this often isn't the case. In fact, there are individuals who see this kind of living arrangement as an opportunity to help themselves to whatever they please. When you live in the same building with a lot of other people, the chances for this kind of nonsense are higher. If you manage to catch the culprit, you can consider yourself lucky.
