Burger cravings arrive without warning. It doesn't matter if National Cheeseburger Day is over. If you believe it's today, then it's today.

By the way, doesn't it sound restrictive that National Cheeseburger Day only happens once a year? There's no "right time" for a cheeseburger. It's always a good time for a burger if you feel like it. You can be thinking of an ordinary dinner when one picture of a shiny bun changes your plans. That is the power of melted cheese, a patty, and a bun altogether on the internet. Whatever food you have at home now feels uninviting.

Cheeseburgers understand personal freedom and adapt to people's choices. Some people want a simple one with cheese and ketchup, while other people want bacon, onions, several sauces, and toppings that make it impossible not to make a mess while trying to eat a bite. Both orders are valid. Napkins have to be at hand for the second group of people.

Fries are a side, but their role is much bigger. We need large side fries because ordering them is not optional. It is a must-do. Then, pickles. They are loved or hated. So either you love them, so you add extra pickles, or you hate them because you feel that they totally ruin your burger. Then there is the cheese. The best burgers have cheese melted sideways, drip sauce, and force you to commit to the first bite before the whole pile of ingredients falls apart.

Choosing a burger is a serious decision. You have to consider all the available choices, so you choose wisely. Anyway, we already know you'll end up choosing the same burger you always order because that's your favorite. Familiarity always wins because feeling hungry is no time for taking risks.

So, there is no official national day required. If there is a burger nearby and you are willing to believe, Cheeseburger Day has already begun. At this point, the only question is where to eat it. Do you want a restaurant burger or a fast-food burger? A homemade one is also a good choice, but it also leaves a frying pan waiting in the sink.
