CARY, NC—Describing the experience as “a revelation,” 38-year-old Derrick Henard told reporters Wednesday that everything had finally clicked for him after he was given a diagnosis of stupid. “I remember googling the word ‘stupid’ for the first time, reading the definition, and thinking, ‘Holy shit—this is me,’ ” said Henard, recalling that while he had initially been skeptical when his girlfriend suggested he might be stupid, it increasingly began to make sense as he did more research into the condition. “Then I went to the doctor and did a bunch of tests, and they told me, ‘Yep, you’re stupid.’ At that moment, it was like all the pieces of the pie suddenly came together. Even better was learning I’m not alone. Being stupid is actually really common in the U.S.” Henard went on to explain that being stupid was probably the reason he had never done well in school.
