For those who have also been dreaming about October’s crisp weather since June, it’s finally time to dust off those transitional wardrobes. After unearthing our respective sweater stashes and prepping for a busy Halloweekend, team Fashionista is reflecting on all the fall fashion finds that filled our online shopping carts this month.

Our editors had handbags on the brain this October, ranging from a chocolate-colored bucket bag to an embossed croc leather clutch to a colorful plaid oversized tote. We leveled up our closets with a sleek pencil skirt, a slouchy V-neck sweater, olive green wide-leg satin pants and a utilitarian funnel-neck jacket. As for our autumnal accessories, we reached for pony-hair sneakers, squiggly gold earrings and podiatrist-designed clogs.

Ahead, see (and shop!) all of our editors’ favorite fashion discoveries from October.

Aeyde Tiby Bow-Detailed Suede Ballet Flats, $495, available here: “I’m currently obsessed with finding a good pair of suede ballet flats for fall, and they ain’t cheap, so I need to choose right. This pair from Aeyde — a brand that’s never steered me wrong — is a frontrunner. I love the subtly square toe and dainty bow, and how cute is this color??” —Dhani Mau, Editor in Chief

The Nori Cloud Max Steamer, $138, available here: “As a lazy person who hates ironing but has also come to appreciate the satisfaction of freshly pressed clothing — it goes such a long way toward making any look appear more polished and expensive! — I consider this handheld steamer a total game changer. The tool incorporates unique vacuum technology to (gently) pull fabric toward the its hot surface, meaning you don’t have to hold it taut yourself — the result is quick, effective de-wrinkling with minimal effort and lessened burn risk. It also heats up in a matter of seconds.” —Steph Saltzman, Beauty & Style Director

Arid Blayne Scoop Tank, $88, available here and Chill Short, $98, available here: “Founder Arielle Cole launched cooling sleepwear after a medication she was taking gave her night sweats. As an SSRI-taker myself, I love wearing a set I know will help keep me cool and dry no matter what — and looks cute at the same time. This shorts set is my favorite.” —Elizabeth Denton, Deputy Content Editor

Jenny Bird Gia Bangle, $198, available here: “Leave it to Jenny Bird to turn me into a bangle fan. I’ve just started dipping my toe (wrist?) into the arm candy world, but this snap-on bracelet hasn’t left my side this month. It’s one of the easiest accessories to upgrade any outfit as it instantly turns a regular oversized sweater into an elevated look.” —Catie Pusateri, Associate Editor

Universal Standard x Abisola Ponte Pencil Skirt, $125, available here: “Because of fit issues, I’ve never owned a pencil skirt before. (They are usually too tight around my hips or the waistband doesn’t sit right.) So I was thrilled when I tried on this one from Universal Standard and it fit like a glove: Its high-stretch fabric makes it easy to slip on around my curvier hips; the waistband hits exactly where it’s supposed to; and the overall silhouette gives me a sculpted, snatched look. I pair the skirt with a sweater and ballet flats for an easy work day outfit.” — Janelle Sessoms, Associate Editor

Sandy Liang x Baggu Large Nylon Market Bag, $84, available here: “October means midterms. And, as a design student, it also means schlepping 40 pounds of photography equipment or fabric alongside a water bottle, a MacBook and whatever else I’ve acquired throughout the day to my next class. Thankfully, Baggu’s collaboration with Sandy Liang, in her signature plaid, lets me do it with both style and function! The bag’s shoulder straps are surprisingly comfortable for how thin they look, and inner pockets mean I never have to dig around for my keys at the bottom of an already-stuffed bag.” —Neia Dizon, Editorial and Multimedia Intern

Adidas Originals + Wales Bonner Gazelle Lizard-Effect Leather-Trimmed Pony-Hair Sneakers, $200, available here: “This month, I decided it was officially time to bring a little newness to my sneaker collection, and this pair of Adidas/Wales Bonner Gazelles — featuring pony hair, lizard-effect leather, contrast stitching and playful laces — are the perfect blend of interesting (so many different textures!) and neutral (love the perfect chocolate brown colorway).” —Steph

TWP x Commbi Pony Clog, $225, available here: “I’ve been looking for a cozy clog for fall in Los Angeles, but most of the styles I’ve seen have looked a bit too much like slippers for my taste. I love how this collab — between current ‘It’ brand TWP and modular footwear label Commbi — looks chic with jeans or even my go-to silk pants. They’re also designed with a podiatrist so they’re insanely comfortable.” —Elizabeth

Mint Velvet Olive Green Satin Wide Leg Trousers, $199, available here: “These trousers are my go-to pull for when I need to look presentable but I want to feel like I’m wearing sweatpants. The olive-green hue pairs well with my neutrals-heavy wardrobe, and the drawstring waistband allows for seamless size adjustment. Now I just need them in the burgundy colorway.” —Catie

Free People Chelsea Funnel-Neck Oversized Jacket, $168, available here: “I needed a funnel-neck jacket, and this one called to me. The slouchy silhouette and utilitarian details make it modern, but it’s still classic enough to wear for years to come. I’ve been throwing on this jacket anytime it’s cool enough outside: Whether I’m dressing down in jeans and a T-shirt for a quick run to Trader Joe’s or dressing up in a dress for a nice dinner, it truly layers well with any outfit.” —Janelle

Rixo Ria Hand Painted Zodiac T-Shirt, $75, available here: “I’d been eyeing this funky zodiac tee for a while, and I finally took the plunge this month when I still couldn’t stop thinking about it. The slightly cropped, boxy fit and soft cotton are the platonic ideal of a T-shirt for me, and it’s already been in heavy rotation in my wardrobe. And for anyone else who has recently binged the new season of ‘Love Is Blind,’ astrology is not satanic, it’s chic.” —Steph

Kiki Bon Bon Mini Bucket, $468, available here: “I love chocolate and I love handbags, so a bucket bag inspired by a bonbon is right up my alley. I’m excited about this new brand from Founder Kunal Manglani, which uses deadstock and overstock luxury leather sourced in Spain. The designs are so unique, and this rich chocolate brown shade is already earning me all the compliments.” —Elizabeth

Hey Harper Dazzling Long Earrings, $95, available here: “I’m always wearing a gold hoop, but these squiggly earrings are unlike anything in my jewelry stash. They add a touch of whimsy to all of my outfits, and they don’t drag my ears down like heavier hoops. Plus, they’re waterproof so I don’t need to worry about getting caught in a fall rainstorm.” —Catie

Gap x Victoria Beckham CashSoft High-Neck Pullover, $148, available here: “I think Catie is rubbing off on me, because I’m slowly becoming a sweater fiend. My latest acquisition is this oversized pullover gem from Victoria Beckham’s fall collaboration with Gap. It’s so comfy I feel like I’m wearing a blanket. I also love how it looks like two separate pieces layered, but it’s actually just one sweater. My only critique is that it’s too chunky to comfortably layer under a bigger coat once winter comes around. But for now? I’m wearing her at any and every opportunity.” —Janelle

Leatherology Margot Top Handle Clutch, $260, available here: “This month, I deviated from my gargantuan leather tote bag to take this sleek clutch out for a spin, and it didn’t disappoint. Even with its slim size, the embossed croc leather clutch holds all of my essentials (and my many lip balms). It also comes with an adjustable crossbody strap for when I’m feeling a hands-free look.” —Catie

Rumored Vail V-Neck Sweater, $138, available here: “This lightweight, oversized V-neck is the perfect layering piece, and there’s something so chic about a heather gray sweater (which is probably why I own like eight of them, with no regrets!).” —Steph

Old Navy x Altuzarra Scarf Maxi Dress, $77, available here: “Joseph Altuzarra referenced ‘Wuthering Heights’ and ‘Pride and Prejudice’ for his collaboration with Old Navy, so I’m choosing to believe he co-created this collection just for me. This maxi dress, which features a built-in scarf and a romantic cowl neckline, is my favorite piece from the partnership. With a vintage-inspired floral print, it’s an effortlessly stylish piece that evokes the aura of all my favorite romantic heroines.” —Catie
