Her post was in reference to news of a civil lawsuit that was filed on September 16 in Manhattan Supreme Court by a former Cornell student under the name “Jane Doe.”
On Sunday, September 27, Florence Pugh shared a detailed statement on Instagram after learning about the case. Across several slides, the actress shared her thoughts about what she had learned about the case and also used a large part of her message to express her thoughts about how she views it as a human issue that demands active allyship from men. She wrote, “I’m processing quietly and watching everything and everyone and every man.”

The caption of her post read, “And if you are one of those shouting about this from the rooftops- thank you. Truly. This is a human issue, not a women’s issue. We are all involved. Men especially.”
As for developments in the case, prosecutors in central New York are reportedly reopening an investigation. Tompkins County District Attorney Matthew Van Houten told ABC News that his office is weighing potential criminal charges in the case. He also added that he plans to present it to a grand jury. However, he also noted that the claims in the civil suit are “dramatically different” from the initial report made to campus police in 2024.
