cruised in its season opener. Now on Friday, the Eagles will try to do something the program hasn't done since 2016: win its first two games.

will try to match that feat on the road against Lakeview.

The Eagles won their Week 1 matchup against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop last week, 32-6. Quarterback Gavin Meyer threw for three touchdowns, including two to Jax Wells from 56 and three yards out. Meyer also found Gavin Mortenson for a 41-yard TD. Meyer also ran in a three-yard score.

On the ground, Grant Bjerke ran for 121 yards, including a 28-yard TD that put the Eagles ahead 20-6 at halftime.

Lakeview also got a Week 1 win, beating Madelia 38-0. Lakers quarterback Logan Herrick threw a pair of touchdowns in the victory. Running back Chance Kosel broke off TD runs of 71 and 41 yards.

Lakeview won both matchups with LQPV last season. The Lakers won the Week 2 machup, 52-12. Then in the opening round of the Section 4A playoffs, Lakeview shut out LQPV, 41-0. The Eagles finished the 2025 season with a 1-8 record. Lakeview ended up 6-4.

The Eagles' last win against the Lakers came in 2023. LQPV won that Week 8 matchup, 34-22.

senior quarterback Aiden Mueller and his arm had a busy four days.

First, there was Thursday night's 33-0 victory against New York Mills. In that game, Mueller completed 23 of 37 passes for 183 yards and four touchdowns. Kaden Kollman had three TD grabs. The other TD reception came from Austin Berge.

Mueller also ran for 17 yards in the victory. The

scored in bunches, with 19 points in the first quarter and 14 points in the third.

Then on Sunday, Mueller pitched for the

in the Class C state amateur baseball championship game against the Fairmont Martins. Mueller threw four shutout relief innings in the Saints' 5-4 loss. He struck out four with two hits and no walks allowed over four innings.

Back to football, Mueller and the Jaguars host West Central Area at 7 p.m. Friday in Belgrade. BBE won last season's matchup with the Knights, 14-8, on the way to a 6-4 record. WCA was 1-8 last season. The Knights began the 2026 with a 28-14 loss at home to Lake Park-Audubon last Friday.
