Chicken burgers are back in the headlines.
For the second time in the same month, the same popular chicken burger has been recalled by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
In this case, CFIA has expanded its recall of Compliments brand Smashed 100% Chicken Burgers due to containing undeclared egg, which could affect those with allergies.
The recall notice came on Monday from CFIA.
The federal agency warns not to use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product, which weighs 680 grams (8 x 84 grams), not only with the code 0 55742 58333 5 but also with all codes where egg is not declared on the label.
The recalling firm is Leadbetter Foods Inc.
Second recall like the first one
The CFIA assigned the notice as a Class II recall, meaning “there is a moderate risk” that consuming the affected products may lead to “short-term or non-life-threatening health problems.”
Earlier in August, there was a recall of the same Compliments Smashed 100% Chicken Burgers due to an allergen risk over the undeclared use of egg in the product
That chicken was sold in packages with eight 85-gram chicken patties and the recalling firm was again Leadbetter Foods Inc.
It was also identified by its universal product code: 0 55742 58333 5.
Neither notice mentioned if any allergic reactions had been reported, but the first recall notice also had a Class II recall.
