The remains of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Bamanga Tukur were buried on Sunday in his hometown of Yola, Adamawa State.
The funeral, conducted according to Islamic rites, was led by the Chief Imam of Modibbo Adama Central Mosque, Alhaji Ahmadu Bobboi.
Prayers began at about 10:50 a.m., and Tukur was interred at the family residence in Fadde-Sanda, Abuja Road, Yola, at 11:30 a.m.
Tukur, a former governor of the old Gongola State and Minister of Industries, died on Saturday in Abuja at the age of 91, just three days before his birthday.
He is survived by two wives and 18 children, including Adamawa State Secretary to the Government Awwal Tukur.
Among those who attended the funeral prayers were business mogul Aliko Dangote, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Senator Iya Abbas (Adamawa Central), and former Adamawa Governor Jibrilla Bindow, along with traditional rulers and other dignitaries.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier described Tukur as a “towering figure” whose career spanned public administration, governance, industry, politics, and pan-African business leadership.
