Forza Horizon 6 will arrive on PS5 on January 26, 2027, after slipping from its expected 2026 window. Premium Edition owners can start five days earlier, on January 21, the same date the game’s first paid expansion launches. The expansion and full PS5 release are both in January, but they do not share a launch day.
A later PS5 arrival, with shared playThe Xbox and PC versions launched in May, leaving PlayStation players waiting for the series’ open-world arcade racer set in Japan. The January date gives that audience a firm timetable, while the expansion means the PS5 release lands alongside a substantial new post-launch beat rather than arriving on its own.
That does not mean PS5 players will be starting in a separate ecosystem. The game supports cross-platform play and cross-saves, and user-created liveries and tuning setups are shared between platforms. Players can race with people on other systems and bring their progress across supported platforms.
What arrives on January 21The first paid expansion is scheduled for January 21 and is included with the Premium Edition. That edition costs £110 and also grants early access to the PS5 game from the same date. Playground has not yet provided details on what the expansion contains, so its setting, events and cars remain under wraps.
A free update is also due on January 21 for everyone else, though its contents have not been announced either. So the date brings three distinct things into play: Premium early access, the paid expansion and a free update. The expansion is not the free update; one is bundled with Premium, while the other is planned for all players.
On PS5, the game is said to offer a Quality mode running at 30 frames per second in 4K and a Performance mode at 60 frames per second. The 4K/30fps figure appeared in a pre-order trailer, according to Eurogamer’s report, while the 60fps Performance option has also been reported. No further technical detail is confirmed here.
