A decade-plus veteran of the news wars received her walking papers on Thursday
Maria Bartiromo, a long-serving anchor for Fox News, was released from the company’s employ on Thursday after 12-plus years of service to the American cable giant.
Though the Rupert Murdoch-owned entity didn’t exactly say she was fired.
“We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 ½ years and wish her all the best on her next chapter,” FOX News Media said in a statement.
Bartiromo joined Fox in 2014 following a 20-year career at CNBC. While at CNBC, she hosted Closing Bell and On the Money With Maria Bartiromo. Bartiromo was the first journalist to report live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange on a daily basis.
Apparently, United States President Donald Trump was a fan of her work.
“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business,” Trump said. “Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior. Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria!”

Sensitive information
The news giant did not elaborate any further on the dismissal, but rumours abound, saying Bartiromo reportedly leaked sensitive information about her previous employer.
The online site, Status, says Bartiromo told the White House that Trump’s primetime speech back in July received limited coverage on the network because the bosses wanted to avoid lending support to Trump’s claims about the 2020 U.S. election.
Trump tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election, won by Joe Biden, by questioning its legitimacy. Trump and his allies alleged voter fraud and irregularities.
Allegedly, Bartiromo also sent administration personnel text messages about Fox Business, and in doing so, violated the terms of her employment.
Bartiromo’s programs, Mornings With Maria and Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street, have both been renamed and will have new hosts.
