The John Ternus era is entering like a wave. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the “Surprise and Shine” iPhone event on Wednesday will kick off, “the biggest run of device releases in [Apple’s] history, delivering a wave of fresh form factors and whole new product areas in 2026, 2027 and beyond.”

I say that the “run” actually started with the Mac Studio and Mac mini announcements about a week ago, which aren’t shipping until late September, so you might reason that it’s kind of a false start. (I’m a Mac guy first, what can I say?) In any case, Gurman points out that Apple has a full release schedule for 2026 and beyond. Everything here has been previously reported, but here’s a quick look at what Gurman says is coming, along with links to our coverage.

Late 2026/early 2027

We have an overview of what to expect from Apple in September. Here’s a summary of what Gurman reports for the rest of 2026 and the first part of 2027.

  • iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Apple’s top-of-the-line iPhone is coming next week.
  • Folding iPhone. Dubbed the iPhone Ultra, Apple’s first folding iPhone is arriving next week.
  • Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4. Read about the changes to the Series 12, including ceramic cases.
  • iPad mini with OLED screen. Apple’s smallest tablet is reportedly getting a big update.
  • M6 iMac. Apple’s M6-based all-in-one is supposedly getting new colors.
  • M6 14-inch MacBook Pro. Learn more about the upgrade to Apple’s laptop.
  • Touchscreen MacBooks. The wait finally ends for Apple’s long-rumored laptop.
  • AirPods 5. An update to the low-end AirPods is reportedly coming soon.

  • HomePod mini. The first update to Apple’s tiny speaker was spotted in code nearly a year ago.
  • Home hub. The so-called HomePad will act as a central point for your smart home.
Throughout 2027
  • M6 MacBook Air. A chip upgrade, nothing more.
  • A19 Pro MacBook Neo. The sequel to Apple’s popular, affordable laptop.
  • Entry-level iPad. The entry-level iPad finally gets an upgrade so it can run Apple Intelligence.
  • iPad Air. An M5 chip is expected to power the next update.
  • iPad Pro. An M6 chip and new vapor-chamber cooling should provide a performance boost.
  • Apple Pencil. Updates to the USB-C and Pro models could be on the way
  • iPhone 18 and 18e. Apple is moving the iPhone 18 release to be at the same time as the 18e.
  • iPhone Air 2. Apple’s thinnest iPhone is supposedly getting a second camera and battery upgrades.
  • M7 14-inch MacBook Pro. A new design could be on the way to match the touchscreen model.
  • AirPods with cameras. A recent leak confirmed the existence of these earbuds, which will be AI-powered.
  • Home security system. Apple may be planning a security service to go along with its rumored cameras.
  • Smart glasses: Apple’s first glasses will be closer to Meta glasses than Vision Pro.
  • 20th anniversary iPhone: Apple will mark 20 years of the iPhone with a new “all-glass” design.
  • Second-gen foldable iPhone. A refresh to the new device expected to arrive next week.
  • Redesigned Apple Watches. The Apple Watch could finally get a new design with the Series 13.
  • M7 Pro and M7 Max touchscreen MacBooks. Chip updates to the 2026 redesign.
2028 and beyond
  • A tabletop robot. Research videos have been posted about this smart home device.
  • M7 Max and M7 Ultra Mac Studio. Chip upgrades to Apple’s highest-end Mac.
  • Apple Vision Pro. A long-overdue 2nd-gen Vision Pro won’t arrive until at least 2028.
  • AI pendant. An AI accessory for the iPhone that will let you access Siri quickly.
  • Third-gen foldable iPhone. Could the 3rd-gen folding phone get a third camera?
  • Foldable iPad. This appears to be a pet project of Ternus, though Omdia reported this week in a story that has been removed from the site that Apple halted orders for displays that would be suitable for such a device.
  • MacBook Air with OLED display. Possibly a higher-end version of Apple’s mid-range laptop.
  • iMac with OLED display. Apple is reportedly working on an upgrade to its all-in-one.
  • AR glasses. A combination Vision Pro-smart glasses project.
