As I sit down to pump out this post-Labor Day edition of Tuesday Screencaps, there's a chill in the air that is like a bat signal to suburban moms that we're two weeks away from fall. Do not be shocked if your wife declares, tonight after dinner, that it's a comfy blanket night.
Now, let's get down to business about what your wife is facing this week. She's facing the fact that the NFL has games on Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday. Yes, I said Wednesday. Then, Thursday night, Netflix will carry the 49ers-Rams game from Australia. When that game kicks off, it will be 10:35 a.m. Friday morning in Melbourne. Gamble accordingly.
The best news for the NFL's opening weekend is that we don't get that dumb Monday Night Football doubleheader with the 10:30 ET kickoff that always featured the Raiders.
NFL COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL CONFIRMS LEAGUE WANTS MULTIPLE TEAMS BASED OUTSIDE THE US: 'NO DOUBT'
How's this Australia thing going for the 49ers?
Let's keep it simple this week. Just figure there's football to watch in primetime from Wednesday all the way until next Monday night.
NFL PUSHES DEEPER INTO STREAMING AS NETFLIX LANDS AUSTRALIA GAME AMID FCC, DOJ SCRUTINY
– Jake C. asks: The NFL recently extended Roger Goodell as commissioner for another 4 years. How do you feel about the job he has done? I think he's the worst commissioner of the 4 major sports. The NFL is still doing those stupid, woke virtue signaling phrases in the end zones and on players' helmets and "black national anthem" despite almost all of the fanbase being sick of them. Then there is the overdone international games. I'll be glad when he is no longer on the job.
Kinsey: I'm not really sure how to rate a commissioner because the commish doesn't work for the fans. His job is to make owners a bunch of money, so I'd say in that aspect, he's doing a great job or they'd fire him.
HERE'S WHAT THE NFL SHOULD PUT IN THE END ZONE INSTEAD OF "END RACISM"
The woke nonsense has been used to keep the BLMs of the world happy. It's Roger and his team's way of making the BLMs think he cares. It's all performative. The black anthem is the same thing. Same goes with the Super Bowl halftime performance.

MICHIGAN-WESTERN MICHIGAN CLOCK CONTROVERSY LEAVES PLAYERS, FANS AND A RULES ANALYST PUZZLED
– Jim M. emails: Strange how NO ONE in the hidden Big Ten Officials' hidden bunker noticed the stadium clock in Ann Arbor was 1 minute faster than Big 10's secret, 'official', 'Atomic Clock' BEFORE THE HAIL MARY PASS PLAY.
W. MICHIGAN AND MAC needed to have their own double secret game clock.
Biggest scandal in modern college football history? SEC officials and their schools' FB programs can't believe they hadn't thought of this scam earlier. Was LSU watching??? Even Bill Belicheck was impressed!
Kinsey: I think Jim means one second faster than the B1G's clock.
Speaking of the NFL, this one caught me off-guard. Are ticket sales a problem this year across the NFL? Why would the Colts be running a "no fees" promotion just days before the organization hosts the Ravens?
Yesterday, while golfing with my buddy Diesel (I went 41-45; lowered my hands and suddenly I'm smashing my irons) and his wife, Mrs. Diesel, we noticed how empty the course was, minus the golf bros. It was a beautiful day and the course was empty. Sunday, I was out and about with Mrs. Screencaps and the kids and the streets seemed quieter than normal.
I'm starting to wonder if people are maxed out by endless fees, high food prices and bills that are piling up. Let's go find some stats to prove I'm not just going insane here.
"24% of respondents had to charge groceries to a credit card in the past 12 months because they couldn’t afford to pay for them any other way. 14% say they’ve had to do the same to cover utilities," The Penny Hoarder reported last week in its "State of Debt in America" report.
If that's not sobering enough, "Nearly a third (32%) use Buy Now, Pay Later at least a few times a year to purchase essentials like groceries. For Gen Z (18-29), that number jumps to almost half (46%)," The Hoarder added.
That $240 deal for the NFL Ticket, if you're a Verizon customer, is looking like a better deal by the day. The message in my brain keeps telling me to buy quality meat for the Weber, invest in the man cave and maybe take my boys to one game per year. Outside of that, modern professional sports feels like I'm being taken advantage of financially.
– Lee D. in Tampa reminds us: Shovels aren’t in the dirt yet and there is still bureaucratic red tape to wade through and already the Rays are trying to grab people’s wallets all under the umbrella of a new park.

While we're on the topic of the NFL, I keep watching these two living it up and all I keep thinking is that this is how the NFL evolves as we enter the final year of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. I keep telling myself that the Giants are going to win 9 games and get into the playoffs. Remember, Vegas has the Giants' win total at 7.5.
If you believe in NFL scripts, you should be buying stock in Ayers-Dart. "Me and my bf together everyday bc we are obsessed (with) each other," Ayers wrote over the weekend on TikTok.

I know the future of the NFL when I see it. These two are either going to run this league the next 10 years, or Dart's going to flame out in 1-2 years. There's no middle ground here. The guy completed 63% of his passes last year. I'm leaning over 7.5 wins and Dart lasting a decade in New York.
