It is a blessing and a curse to always have to outlive your pets. You know that you will have to watch them get older, less playful, and slow down as the years go by. You will have to clean up more accidents than you ever have before and take them to the vet more often. It's a part of being a pawrent, and all you can do is try to make their final years as comfortable as pawssible, and to make them understand how much they are loved.
After they cross over the rainbow bridge, you take your time to grieve and start the whole cycle over again. Excitement. Adoption. First day home. A whole slew of firsts until life becomes "normal" again. Sometimes, it's with a completely unexpected cat that you never would have picked, but they picked you. Other times, you go out and look for one and take them home without an ounce of doubt. This time, however, it seems that feline fate found a glitch in the matrix and brought two souls together that were meant to be.
Originally posted on @gnomishly's X account, this greiving cat pawrent posted about losing their soul cat recently. This cat was very unique, with special eyebrow markings that you don't see very often. Then, upon going to the exact same shelter where they adopted their soul cat 8 years ago, they stumbled upon a new cat that looked exactly like their old cat. Not just "a little bit alike" - the shelter cat has the exact same "eyebrow" markings, and the same type of heterochromia in its multi-colored eyes.
Too crazy to be a coincidence, too meowtrageous to be called fate, but we can call it one thing, for sure: heartwarming.
