Nothing is worse than a snitch at the office. Seriously, there are other ways to get what you want. How does negating a privilege for everyone else make you happier? It literally has no positive impact, only negativity toward other people. If you're going to snitch or sacrifice anyone, at least try to get something in return, like a work-from-home policy for everyone or something.
This employee ended up removing everyone's privileges, so I think he will be avenged in no time. If I were the employee telling this story, I would definitely spy on them so I could snitch about the first fishy thing I see, and I would try to make it ten times worse. I know that's childish, but it has to happen. It's the law of the jungle.
If I were to be mature about it, of course I would try to speak to management and explain why I think there are benefits to having the flexibility to work from home regularly. It should be well known by now that people are more productive when schedules and conditions are more flexible.

Petty people create pettiness in return. I'd love to see an update of this story. We often hear things from the petty side, and I know I tend to support it, but snitching specifically hits a nerve. I don't think it's ever right. If you're so jealous of other people working from home, just ask them how they do it.
Promote sneakiness, not snitchiness. That's my motto. Of course, the employee from this story could polish his resume, but I think that's a little exaggerated. Unionizing and trying to regain flexibility is the way to go here; at least try that before finally deciding to leave. Not everything is lost.
