Former Anambra State governor and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has described the Hausa people as key contributors to Nigeria’s growth and development.
In a message to mark International Hausa Day on Wednesday, Obi congratulated the Hausa community across Nigeria as they celebrated in Daura, Katsina State.
“The Hausa people have made significant and lasting contributions to the growth and development of our nation, enriching Nigeria through their culture, traditions, enterprise, agriculture, scholarship, public service, and dedication to community,” he said.
Obi noted that the celebration was not only a moment to honour a proud heritage but also an opportunity to reaffirm the bonds that unite Nigerians.
He emphasised that the country’s diversity remains one of its greatest strengths, and its shared future depends on recognising and respecting the contributions of every community.
He wished the Hausa people peace, prosperity and a renewed sense of hope, adding that the occasion should bolster national unity and inspire efforts to build a Nigeria where every citizen, regardless of ethnicity or background, has equal opportunities to flourish.“Congratulations and best wishes to the Hausa community,” Obi concluded.
