I've been playing chess pretty much my whole life, it's always been a big part of my life. A while back I got curious what a 4 player version would look like, so I started building one.
The rules stayed the same, how the pieces move, check, checkmate, all of that is just normal chess. What's different is the board, I added a new dimension so four people can play at the same time and it still feels like real chess.
Me and my son have been playing it at home for a while now and it's become one of our favorite things to do. It's a different kind of game when you've got four sides instead of two, people team up, threats come from angles you're not used to watching for.
Sharing a pic of the board below. What do you all think, does the setup make sense just from looking at it? Anything that seems off or worth changing?
If a few of you want to actually try a round, I've got a free test version I can send over. Would really mean a lot to hear from people who know the game well.
This is part of a bigger project called Quess, it's digital right now with a physical version coming later, but the chess side is what I'm mainly focused on and this felt like the right place to ask.
