IndiaAIFounders — Honda is back to making mountain bikes with an e-MTB model going on sale in 2027

Remember Honda’s electric mountain bike? The Honda e-MTB (electric mountain bike, get it?) concept was first showcased at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, where it was displayed alongside the Prelude prototype. Well, if you were one of the few who paid more attention to the bike than the coupe, then you’re in luck.

Honda has officially announced that the e-MTB will finally go on sale in 2027. We also have a series of new images to give us an idea of what to expect.

Off the bat, the frame looks similar to the concept, as it features a glossy white shell and a rather large Honda badge. The black handlebar also remains, but the head tube is now finished in a bronze-like color. There are also a few more bronze accents by the seat and the fork.

While the black-and-white motif on the concept looked much more Honda, the production e-MTB does look a tad more rugged thanks to that additional color. Hopefully we’ll see more paint options at launch.

Speaking of its upcoming launch, it will likely hit Europe first, as the announcement was made at Sea Otter Europe 2026 in Spain. If you didn’t know, Sea Otter is an annual convention for bicycles and the larger cycling industry. Whether it’ll enter other markets is still up in the air. The same goes for its price and power specifications.

Honda is the latest carmaker to get into electric cycling, after Volkswagen showcased its e-bike earlier this year. While we wait for more information, here are a few more photos.
