We talk a lot culturally about how difficult it can be to live next to units or homes that are rentals. For good reason: when you own your place, living next to a rental presents a level of uncertainty. You don't know who could move in next door at any time. It only takes one bad experience to cause you to be anxious any time good tenants are moving out.
And this isn't helped by the fact that a lot of landlords and property managers can't be bothered to do anything about neighbors' complaints as long as the rent check clears every month.
The problem is that this "one bad experience" psychology causes an overinflated idea in popular culture about how problematic living next to rentals can be.
But what about dealing with neighbors who own their houses as a tenant?
