Does being married mean sharing absolutely everything, even the family traditions you hold closest to your heart?

"All families have secrets", they say. For some, this means keeping quiet about sad, hurtful things; for others, it means sharing kitchen tips and secret recipes. And we all should respect that. Since we don't know how each family works or the code they follow, demanding something from them is wrong, and most people can take it the wrong way. This is exactly what happened to this married couple, and the secret recipe from the wife's grandmother, which apparently she left specifically to her before she passed.

The husband wants the recipe for his new restaurant and is more than willing to credit the grandma on the menu. But there's no way that the wife is giving him the recipe. And who can blame her? This goes beyond the food: the old lady gave it to her because of their special relationship, and now the woman doesn't feel right sharing something that isn't hers. And she has a point right there. But beyond that, if she has the recipe and doesn't want to share it, that's where the story ends.

Getting married doesn't automatically let a significant other take possession of things that belong to the other, especially things like recipes that have been in the family for years. So he can't expect her to give him the recipe just because of that. Marriage is about building a life together, not preserving those little bits of individuality along the way. Family traditions are meant to be shared, and secrets don't belong there.
