IndiaAIFounders — Hyundai confirms specs for all-new Tucson’s ICE and hybrid variants

Last month, the all-new Hyundai Tucson was officially revealed, featuring muscular styling by way of the ‘Art of Steel’ design language. The next-generation compact crossover has since been showcased in the metal to Korean media at a recent brand event, which also provided new information on powertrain specs.

The 2027 Hyundai Tucson will be available in ICE and hybrid variants, both utilizing a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder mill. Without electrification, this engine can churn out 190hp and 265Nm of torque; the hybrid model offers a substantial boost to 242hp, but a figure for maximum torque was not shared (incidentally, the Seltos Hybrid also uses a 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain that generates 265Nm). Hyundai claims that the Tucson Hybrid is capable of a fuel efficiency figure of 17.4km/L.

Interestingly, despite putting on some bulk compared to its current incarnation, the all-new Tucson is actually more aerodynamic with a drag coefficient of just 0.30 (down from 0.33). To achieve this, Hyundai has reworked the shape of the wheels and the rear spoiler, and added new active aero flaps and a rear diffuser.

As is the current direction of Hyundai’s new models, there is a heavy emphasis on software features. Continuing the idea of maximizing energy efficiency, Inertial Driving Guidance is a system that uses navigation data to tell the driver when to let off the gas and allow the car to naturally decelerate. For tricky parking situations, Memory Reverse Assist keeps track of how a vehicle enters a parking spot and automatically backtracks these inputs when the driver reverses out.

The media event also provided a more detailed look at the XRT trim for the all-new Tucson. This treatment includes prominent black cladding along the sides, with what appears to be a textured look, plus an exclusive grille design that complements the more rugged character of the variant. However, nothing indicates that the Tucson XRT will have extra features to back up its off-roading aspirations.

The following exterior colors are available: Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Gray Matte, Driftwood Gray Metallic, Red Rock Orange Matte, and Goyo Copper Pearl. Just like with the Elantra, the pearl and matte finishes accentuate the heavy creases and muscular bodywork of the Tucson.

It is likely that the all-new Hyundai Tucson will be available first in its home market of South Korea, before making its way to other regions like the United States. As far as compact crossovers are concerned in the Philippine market, the current Tucson is getting a bit long in the tooth.
