I wish I could go back to those long summer evenings spent playing The Sims: Makin' Magic

I would create a family with my high school crush and a cute little dog, and spend the afternoon looking for magic ingredients. How could I forget Vicki Vampiress and all the imaginary scenarios I made there?

I was the last of my friends to get a computer. It wasn't that my mother was a hippie or anything; we were just poor, so I would go to my friend's house to play Sims first. Part of the thrill of finally owning the game was how many times I had already envisioned myself playing it.

Walking back to my house from my best friend's home, I would picture all the things I would do if I had the game. I get chills just thinking about the excitement I felt. Who knew the excitement itself would become part of my nostalgia?

The ability you possess as a child to fantasize so magically about something is truly amazing. I guess I could still do it now if I really put my mind to it, but I'd have to get past so much distrust the world has bestowed upon me through the years. Gosh, I get so philosophical.

Luckily, new versions of The Sims keep coming out, and I can download one and play. Seriously, what's stopping me? My age? I've said it before; this is the year we should all let ageism go. And you have to be thankful I'm not playing World of Warcraft, and I still go to work, lol.

Maybe building your dream house in The Sims is a form of manifestation. I know you're all laughing now, but it won't be that funny when I get my three-story mansion, my high school crush, and a cute little dog. Just wait for it.
