Bangladesh’s maiden tour of Australia ended with a 0-3 loss after the hosts put up another authoritative performance at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane today. Megan Schutt was the star yet again for Australia, picking up four wickets for just 16 runs with five maiden overs.
Her effort helped Australia restrict Bangladesh to 172 runs, with Ashleigh Gardner and Annabel Sutherland accounting for two wickets each. Sharmin Akhter (50) and Shorna Akter (54) notched up fifties for the visitors and were the only two batters in the innings to score more than 13 runs.
In response, Australia lost both their openers by the end of sixth over, with Sultana Khatun and Disha Biswas picking up wickets. But Ellyse Perry and Sutherland joined hands and made sure there were no more hiccups in the chase. Both batters scored their respective half-centuries as they stitched 137 runs together as Australia got over the line in the 23rd over of the innings.
