If authors did a remake of another book like movies get remade, what would you want to see be re-written? And which author?

Like if “The Invasion of the Body Snatchers” was re-written by Orson Scott Card. Or if “The Island of Doctor Moreau” was re-written by M. R. Carey. I would love to read these stories again with a new view. I’d imagine it COULD be amazing, but would be a bit of a risk for the author to be taking. It happens with comics all the time.
