I’ve been playing chess for a while very casually, but have started really trying to improve in the past 6 months. I’ve played a lot online in that time, and have gone from 400 to 800 elo. I feel like I’m getting a lot better, and love to see the improvement. I saw some recommendations from people to check out in person chess clubs to really start analyzing games and improving.

My problem was that I would see so many people saying intermediate level play starts around 1200. I figured at my level, all I would do is waste peoples time and get crushed. But I went today anyways and it was awesome. Met a couple pretty cool people, and one of the better guys there broke down our game and gave me a couple tips. There ended up being a mix of beginner level to strong players as well, and out of 10 games I walked away with 3 wins.

Compared to what I was expecting, it was really cool. Do yourself a favor if you’ve never been and are thinking of trying it. It was a lot of fun, and I’m planning on going back next week
