Iran's supreme leader calls for tighter control of Strait of Hormuz to end US war
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei on Tuesday met with Security Chief Mohsen Rezaei, reaffirming "the necessity of tightening the management of the Strait of Hormuz," Iranian media reported.
Khamenei, who has not been seen in public since succeeding his slain father Ali Khamenei, called for ensuring that Tehran’s conditions were met to end the war as Rezaei briefed him on the country’s situation and measures being taken to address ongoing challenges.
The supreme leader reaffirmed "the importance of relations with neighbouring countries based on interests," stressed the importance of pursuing Iran's interests and implementing its conditions with the aim of ending the war, and the "no war, nor peace situation", state media said.

He also stressed the need to safeguard the rights and interests of the Iranian people and what Tehran calls the “resistance front” by fulfilling the conditions set by Iranian officials for ending the conflict with the US.
Khamenei further described the Supreme National Security Council as a central body for managing state affairs, emphasising coordination among political, economic, cultural and security institutions.

In a post on X on Tuesday, Rezaei said the United States has not brought security to any country in the region and called for preventing foreign intervention.

“Washington’s inability to provide security guarantees has become evident,” he wrote.
“Security in West Asia must originate from within the region itself, and any foreign intervention must be prevented."
Persian Gulf states, Iran, Iraq should form security pact excluding US: Oman FM
Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi on Monday called for the formation of a non-aggression security pact involving six Persian Gulf states plus Iran and Iraq, slamming US attempts to demonise the Islamic Republic as a threat, Press TV reported on Tuesday.
Speaking at Girton College, Cambridge, Albusaidi said that for half a century Washington promoted a false image of Tehran as a threat to the Persian Gulf states, holding back West Asia's ability to solve its own problems.
The Omani foreign minister stressed that the US would no longer be the region's primary security provider.

“Issues such as the Strait of Hormuz have become impossible to resolve because external powers continue to define the terms of engagement, while regional powers are unable to take collective responsibility for making their own security arrangements and reach a consensus on them,” Albusaidi said.
Iran has thus far refused to ease its restrictions on transit through the Strait of Hormuz, saying the waterway will be fully reopened once the US permanently ends its aggression and lifts its maritime blockade and sanctions against Iran, according to Press TV.
Iranian authorities also indicated that Iran would not back down from its conditions and would respond decisively to any act of aggression against it.
“What holds us back is that issues which ought to be handled at a regional level by the states of the [Persian] Gulf themselves, are made more complex, more intractable and sometimes simply impossible to resolve because the region’s security arrangements are insufficiently developed,” Albusaidi said, "and they are insufficiently developed because they have relied for too long on the involvement of external powers."
He noted that Iran “had been systematically excluded from playing any meaningful role in the security arrangements of the region" which had led to "profoundly negative consequences, not just for Iran, but for the region as a whole”, including the imposition of priorities on the region by external powers such as “the entirely false perception that there is a fundamental regional antagonism between Iran and the Arab states of the [Persian] Gulf.”
According to the Omani foreign minister, the most “damaging” priority imposed on the Persian Gulf region from the outside has been to exclude Iran.
“Not just excluded. Worse. Positioned as the threat against which regional security had to be organised,” Albusaidi stressed, speaking on the day high-level defence and intelligence officials from Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia gathered in Tehran in an attempt to prevent a renewed act of aggression by the US against Iran.
No talks with US before Iran’s conditions are met: Senior lawmaker
A senior Iranian lawmaker said the Islamic Republic will not negotiate with the United States unless Tehran’s seven conditions are met, warning that renewed unprovoked aggression against the country would prompt a stronger response and have consequences across the region, Press TV reported on Tuesday.
Member of the Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi made the remarks to Lebanon’s Al-Mayadeen television channel in an exclusive interview on Monday.
Iran has communicated its conditions to the US via mediators regarding the issues surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, according to Press TV
The Islamic Republic closed the waterway following the launch of the American-Israeli aggression against the country on February 28. Iran and the US agreed on a 60-day reopening period as part of a Pakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding in June, but American violations forced Tehran to re-establish the closure.
Tehran has previously named some of its conditions for reopening the chokepoint as cessation of aggression on all fronts, removal of an illegal naval blockade that the US has imposed on the country, lifting of illegal sanctions, and unfreezing of Iran’s frozen assets.
“Some parties in Iran believe there is no point in adhering to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty if the United States does not abide by it,” he said.
He said Oman had agreed to a new arrangement negotiated with Iran concerning the Strait of Hormuz, but US pressure on Muscat prevented an expected joint statement from being issued.
He warned that preventing Iran from exporting its oil would halt oil exports from the entire region.
The lawmaker also said that “the navigation system in the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its previous status.”
PGSA warns of legal action against Sinokor Shipping Company
The Persian Gulf Strait Authority warned on Tuesday that it would take legal action against all Sinokor Shipping Company vessels from November 1 for repeated transit violations, noting that at least seven have already faced legal action, according to Press TV.

Israeli regime source of regional instability: Iranian security official
Deputy for international affairs at the Secretariat of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Bagheri Kani said that the concept of “Greater Israel” had reinforced regional countries’ understanding that the Israeli regime was the source of instability, which created a basis for cooperation to establish security within the region, IRNA reported on Tuesday.
He said that the Israeli regime was not in a favourable position and that developments following its aggression against Iran did not unfold according to its plans.

Speaking after Monday's quadrilateral meeting between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Iran, Bagheri Kani said the gathering took place amid major strategic developments in the region over recent months, which he attributed to the “brutal aggression” of the Israeli regime and the “terrorist US government.”
“Today, everyone acknowledges that the resistance of our Armed Forces and people, alongside the wisdom exercised by our dear Leader, has not only thwarted the United States’ objectives but also left it at a loss,” he said.
According to Bagheri Kani, there was emphasis by all four countries on self-reliance and the development of domestic capabilities.
“This is a very important point and a fundamental cornerstone on which we can move toward the future,” he said.
‘Iran to tighten conditions if US launches another war’
According to Boroujerdi, Iran’s conditions would become more stringent if Washington resumed the aggression.
He said the Islamic Republic’s missile stockpile has increased by “more than 50 percent,” while categorically ruling out surrendering the country’s enriched uranium.
Iranian commander warns maritime vessels against violating Iranian security protocols
Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Ali Abdollahi warned that any vessel violating Iranian security protocols in the southern waters “will put itself at risk and face serious damage,” according to IRNA.
Abdollahi made the remarks during a visit to the coast of the Sea of Oman on Monday.
“Any vessel that attempts to deviate from the designated route or disregard Iranian procedures, for any reason, will put itself at risk and face serious damage.”
Abdollahi said the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) maintained full control over the Persian Gulf coastline, its islands, and the Strait of Hormuz, with all maritime traffic in the area under their close surveillance.
The Iranian commander rejected claims by US officials that the Strait of Hormuz was open and free for navigation, saying that the waterway was completely closed and under the IRGC's management.
Iran says 4-nation talks back regional security free of outside interference
Mohsen Rezaei said participants in four-nation talks in Tehran on Monday agreed that security in West Asia should be based on regional states, with external interference prevented.
Rezaei made the remarks following a meeting of delegations from Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Iran to discuss regional security, Israeli activities in the region, and developments in Palestine and Lebanon.

“We concluded that West Asia’s security must be based on the countries of the region, and any external interference must be prevented,” he said.
Rezaei said regional countries should have begun cooperating earlier, arguing that the Turkish, Pakistani, and Saudi delegations’ visits to Tehran demonstrated that US threats had no effect at the global level.

He said talks with senior officials from the three countries had created a new, positive atmosphere.
“The four countries believe that cooperation among them offers a way out of the crises facing the region,” he added.
The Iranian official also stressed that Israel must halt its attacks on Lebanon, southern Syria, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank.
Earlier on Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the Tehran meeting, bringing together Iranian officials and senior representatives of the Mecca Alliance countries –Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan – could mark the beginning of a regional security framework rooted in the region.
