It isn't something that most people need.

Anybody who has spent any time at all preparing and eating food knows that the whole process can be kind of time-consuming and inconvenient. From start to finish, you have to decide what you want to eat, buy the groceries, cook the meal (or at least heat it up), and then do whatever dishes it has generated. Even people who don't think that they spend that much time in the kitchen probably devote a significant portion of their days to preparing and clearing up what they eat.

It is no wonder that there are countless products and industries dedicated to making the whole process more convenient. From takeout and restaurants to paper plates and disposable baking trays, many are willing to pay extra in the long run just so they can avoid some of the arduous work that comes with having to feed oneself.

Everybody has their reasons for doing this, and some are very valid—not everybody is operating at the same level of ability. However, sometimes a desire to save some time is just a thinly veiled excuse for laziness and wastefulness. Few people like having to do chores on the regular, but that is just a fact of life. Avoiding that responsibility is not necessarily going to bring the rewards that we hope for. Doing the dishes may be annoying, but you are also eating something that could last you a lifetime with enough care and luck throughout the process.
