ITCZ brings rain over four areas in Mindanao — PAGASA
The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is expected to bring rain over four areas in Mindanao, raising the risk of flooding and landslides, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday.
ITCZ will cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental, Basilan and Tawi-Tawi, PAGASA said in its 4:00 a.m. weather advisory.
The state weather bureau warned of possible flash floods and landslides in affected areas during moderate to occasional heavy rains.
Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms are expected to drench Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Flooding and landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms.
Batanes and Babuyan Islands will also experience rains due to northeasterly windflow, with no significant impact expected.
PAGASA said that no tropical cyclones had been observed in the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 8:00 a.m. since tropical cyclone Champi, locally known as Rosal, exited the area over the weekend. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
