Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has met with former militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, to strategise on mobilising grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The meeting, held in Abuja after the commissioning of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement’s national secretariat, focused on voter sensitisation, youth engagement, and consolidating the APC’s support base across the South-South and South-East.

Kalu, who serves as Deputy Director-General (South II) of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, described the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement as a critical platform for Tinubu’s campaign, stressing that electoral success would depend on sustained engagement with voters at the ward and household levels.

He highlighted Tinubu’s reform-driven policies, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the South-East Development Commission Act, as evidence of the administration’s commitment to stabilising the economy and addressing regional development needs.

Kalu praised Tompolo’s initiative and resources in establishing the movement’s national secretariat, urging members to expand grassroots structures across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas and 8,809 wards.

He emphasised that the campaign’s Renewed Hope Agenda must reach every doorstep. The alliance between Kalu and Tompolo underscores the APC’s focus on strengthening its outreach in the South-South and South-East, regions seen as pivotal to Tinubu’s re-election strategy.
