The Governing Council of the Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, AFUSTA, Aliero, Kebbi State, has approved the appointment of Prof. Muhammad Gwani as the institution’s Acting Vice-Chancellor.
Gwani, who was the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics) before his appointment, assumed office on Monday, August 31, 2026.
The university’s Public Relations Officer, Mustapha Mansur-Ango, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Birnin Kebbi.
According to the statement, the university Senate recommended Gwani for the position following the voluntary resignation of the former Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ismaila Arzika-Mungadi.
The Governing Council subsequently considered and ratified the Senate’s recommendation, in line with the university’s established procedures.
The university said the appointment was aimed at ensuring continuity in its administration.
DAILY POST reports that the development comes days after Mungadi resigned as Acting Vice-Chancellor on August 28, 2026, citing developments that he said had made it increasingly difficult to discharge his responsibilities with the independence, effectiveness and institutional harmony he considered necessary.
