Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has said his administration will seek the establishment of a military base in Bagudo Local Government Area to tackle persistent bandit attacks.

Idris made this known on Saturday during a condolence visit to the District Head of Kaoje, Mustapha Usman, following the killing of the village head of Lafagu and other residents in recent attacks.

The governor said the state government was working with security agencies to apprehend those responsible and restore peace to the affected communities.

He said the government was also taking measures to ensure the safe return of residents displaced by the attacks.

“I am not going to relent in ensuring that my people are protected. My government is working hard with the security agencies to ensure that the internally displaced persons return safely to their villages,” Idris said.

Idris also visited camps housing internally displaced persons and assured them of efforts to facilitate their safe return to their communities.

He urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and provide credible information on suspicious persons or activities, while cautioning them against taking the law into their own hands.
