Luka Doncic and the Los Angeles Lakers took care of business against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night, and the Lakers superstar made some more NBA history along the way.

Doncic poured in 40 points in the 116-103 win at Golden 1 Center. In the process, he became the first player in NBA history to put together six straight games with at least 35 points, five rebounds, five assists and five made 3-pointers, according to OptaSTATS.

The Slovenian star got it done efficiently against Sacramento. He shot 11-of-23 from the field, including 6-of-13 from deep, while knocking down 12 of his 13 free throws. He also grabbed nine rebounds and dished out seven assists, though he did commit six turnovers.

Doncic took over in the second quarter. With the game tied at 46, he ripped off 11 straight points, starting with a jumper over Leaky Black and following it up with three 3-pointers, including one over Darius Acuff Jr. That burst gave the Lakers a 57-46 lead, and Doncic went into halftime with 23 points.

Austin Reaves added 21 points and four assists, while Walker Kessler chipped in 15 points, eight rebounds, four blocks and three steals. For the Kings, Zach LaVine scored 21 points, and Domantas Sabonis posted 16 points and 17 rebounds.

The historic stretch has been nothing short of remarkable. Just two games ago, Doncic dropped 45 points, 15 rebounds, six assists and five steals while drilling eight 3-pointers against the Toronto Raptors, becoming the only player ever to reach all of those marks in a single game. He followed that up with 42 points, 13 assists and seven rebounds against the Miami Heat, hitting six threes in that one as well.

With Wednesday’s win, the Lakers improved to 7-2 on the season, pulling into a tie with the Houston Rockets for the best record in the Western Conference. Sacramento, meanwhile, fell to 1-7. Los Angeles has now won three in a row since a loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Fittingly, the streak began in a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 27, when Doncic racked up 41 points, nine assists, five rebounds and six 3-pointers. He will get a chance to extend it to seven against that same Blazers squad, which sits at 6-1, when Los Angeles hosts Portland on Friday.
