Oct. 12—Likely Northeast A MVP Tanner Cummings led Lakeside football to its fifth straight win on Friday, a 20-7 decision over nonleague opponent Chelan, to run its season record to 5-1. Cummings had touchdown runs of 3 and 24 yards, and connected with Kannon Almond on a 17-yard TD pass.
The Eagles, who already own a win over Medical Lake earlier this season, host NEA foes Riverside and Colville the next two weeks to close out their regular season.
Medical Lake beat Colville 20-14 last week on Landon Miller's fourth quarter 50-yard TD run to move to 1-1 in league. Miller finished with 20 carries for 156 yards.
Even though Medical Lake still has a losing overall record, the Cardinals could clinch one of the league's two postseason berths with a win against Riverside on Oct. 23. Making the postseason would be a great boost for a program that went 0-8 last season.
