Dealing with the landlord is never a fun thing, no matter who it is. They have all the power, and they love to exercise that over you. You might end up feeling like you have very little leg to stand on even though your whole living situation rests on it. But there are as many ways that a landlord can be bad as there are landlords in the world. So you are not always sure how to deal with them or what legal course to take. This can be frustrating when you feel like you're operating from a lack of knowledge rather than a place of empowerment. That's where this tenant was coming from when they dealt with an interesting situation with their unit.
Nobody wants to feel like their privacy is being invaded. When you have people over, you're probably thinking about the mess in your apartment before they come over. Maybe you're doing a sweep beforehand to make sure nothing embarrassing is lying out. Or maybe you like to present a clean and tidy home to your guests, and so you clean up before they come over. This is part of privacy. You're not obligated to show something just because somebody asked you to. But the tenant in this story was having to contend with that after photos of their apartment ended up online.
