"You ain't gunna turn me in, are ya?" Indican Pictures recently released this indie dark comedy film titled McConadilla, a wacky fun Texas creation made by Texas filmmaker Layton Matthews. It first premiered at the 2024 Smodcastle Film Festival a few years back, and also won the Best Feature prize at the 2025 Austin Horror Film Fest. Director Layton Matthews stars in this as Henry Simms - a perpetual man-child vlogger. When he experiences a series of traumatic events, his wise-crackin' armadillo puppet, McConadilla, springs to life full of bad ideas to help Henry regain control of his world. This leads to a whirlwind of violence and a battle for Henry's sanity! Matthews is also the voice of the sneaky McConadilla. The film's cast also includes Charity Croomes, Bob Salatich, Christine Elise, Jesse C. Boyd, Becky Boxer, Carlos Larkin, and Evan Gamble as Bizzy. Not many reviews out there for this, but it does look kooky and weird and funny. It might be worth a watch after all? Especially considering how much it's making fun of everyone & everything. // Continue Reading ›
