Liverpool interested in Lamine Camara but did not undermine Chelsea move

According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Liverpool were contemplating AS Monaco’s Lamine Camara as an option if they needed to add to their midfield ranks, but they had nothing to do with his move to Chelsea falling through on the Deadline Day of the summer transfer window.

Many believe Liverpool could indeed use a player like Camara – one that can act as a proper defensive midfielder, but Ornstein said that the Premier League club would only have made a move had Alexis Mac Allister left, which did not happen. Even after the departure of Curtis Jones to Inter Milan, they felt they had enough cover in the middle of the park, with young Trey Nyoni impressing in pre-season.

So the only feasible reason why Camara’s move to Stamford Bridge eventually fell through would’ve been the situation which involved Folarin Balogun – the striker who was very close to joining Everton at that point.
