A man has died following a stabbing in an industrial area in Mississauga early Sunday morning.
Peel Regional Police said officers were called to the area of Tomken Rd. and Kamato Rd. at 4:54 a.m., where they found the man with life-threatening injuries and immediately attempted CPR and provided first aid.
Police said the victim succumbed to his injuries and the suspect had fled the area on foot before cops arrived at the scene.
Acting Insp. Ian Plummer told reporters that investigators believe the victim and the suspect were both attending a party in the area.
Describing the event as a “decent-sized party,” Plummer said investigators believe others in attendance may have witnessed the incident.
He said the party was in “its late stages,” and that people were starting to leave when the incident occurred.
The victim’s identity has not been released by police, pending notification of next of kin.
Plummer said investigators believe the stabbing was an isolated incident and that there was no threat to public safety.
“Our preliminary investigation indicates that an altercation occurred in this parking lot after a private event in the area, so we’re urging anyone who attended the event or was in the area at the time to please come forward,” Peel Regional Police spokesperson Const. Mandeep Khatra said in a post on X .
