Maria Bartiromo‘s Fox News exit has become more complicated. Fox News Media announced Bartiromo’s departure on September 3, 2026, after more than 12 years with the company. The TV channel described the departure as a business decision but did not provide a specific reason.

Bartiromo’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, has disputed Fox’s account of her departure. He says the veteran anchor remains a Fox employee and has suggested that the dispute could lead to legal action.

According to Deadline, Bartiromo’s close relationship with President Donald Trump may have played a role in her departure. A cable news insider told the outlet that her ties to the White House had concerned Fox for some time. The source also alleged that Bartiromo shared internal Fox guidance with White House officials.

The insider described the alleged incident as another “self-inflicted wound” for Bartiromo. The source claimed that Fox believed she had become too close to the Trump administration. However, these claims have not been independently confirmed, and Fox has not publicly provided a specific reason for Bartiromo’s departure.

Freedman has strongly denied reports that Bartiromo was fired. He reportedly called claims that she was no longer a Fox employee “absolutely and unequivocally false.” He has also indicated that his legal team has receipts and witnesses supporting Bartiromo’s position.

Meanwhile, Fox has already begun changing its programming. “Mornings with Maria” is now “Mornings with Fox Business,” while “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” has been rebranded as “FBN’s Wall Street.” Rotating anchors will host the programs. Jason Chaffetz is also temporarily hosting “Sunday Morning Futures.”

What did Donald Trump say about Maria Bartiromo leaving Fox News?

Trump reacted to Bartiromo’s departure on Truth Social. The President said he couldn’t believe she would no longer have her shows on Fox News and Fox Business.

Trump highlighted her popularity with viewers. The President wrote, “Three different shows, always number one. Maria is a total professional, and a true warrior. Her fans, of which there are many, will not be happy. God bless you, Maria!”

His comments came as Bartiromo’s employment status remained disputed. Trump’s post focused on praising Bartiromo and did not mention the allegations surrounding internal Fox communications.
