The announcement has led fans to speculate that Masters of the Universe 2 may not happen since actual props and costumes are being auctioned off. Many fans believe that if a sequel is in the works, the production team would likely keep these items rather than sell them.
There has been no official confirmation that a sequel has been canceled.
What did Travis Knight say about a potential Masters of the Universe 2?Travis Knight, who directed Masters of the Universe, shared his candid thoughts on the possibility of a sequel. Speaking with ScreenRant, the filmmaker said that the decision was ultimately out of his hands. “It was such a joy making that movie; I had so much fun working with that team,” Knight said. “If the universe, in its wisdom, asks us to make more of these things, we would be delighted to give them more.”
Despite receiving positive reviews, Masters of the Universe underperformed at the box office. The movie grossed just $114 million worldwide on a $170–200 million production budget. The film eventually became a streaming hit after its release on Amazon Prime Video on July 22, 2026. FlixPatrol reported that the film reached No. 1 in 25 countries. Meanwhile, Nielsen’s July 20–26 streaming ratings reported that it accumulated over 1.17 billion minutes of watch time.
