Anyone who lives with a velcro cat knows that purrsonal space is pretty much nonexistent. Going to the bathroom? Your cat is coming along. Trying to cook dinner? There's a feline supervisor weaving between your ankles. Want to sit on the couch for five minutes? Congratulations, you've just volunteered to become a heated cat bed.
Don't even think about closing a door. To a clingy kitty, a closed door is a personal insult that requires immediate action. They'll scratch, meow, and shove their paws underneath until you finally surrender. You could be gone for thirty seconds, but judging by their reaction, you'd think you'd abandoned them for several years.
Working from home is another adventure when your cat insists on being involved in absolutely everything. They'll sprawl across your keyboard, block your computer screen, and demand head scratches during important meetings. Your boss might be expecting that report by Friday, but your cat has decided it's time for mandatory cuddles. Answering emails can wait until your feline supervisor is satisfied.
Some of these cats can be incredibly picky about affection, too. They'll spend twenty minutes screaming because you're not paying attention to them, only to walk away the second you actually try to pet them. Cuddles are only acceptable when they're the ones making the rules.
It's hard to stay annoyed when your cat curls up against you and starts purring like a little motor. Sure, you might lose all feeling in your legs because you don't have the heart to move them, but that's a sacrifice most cat parents are willing to make. Being chosen as your cat's favorite person is a pretty big honor, even if it comes with absolutely no privacy.
These affectionate little kitties have taken the phrase attached at the hip to a whole new level. Whether they're following their humans from room to room or demanding cuddles at the worst possible moment, they've made one thing perfectly clear.
Once you've got a velcro cat, you're stuck with them furever!
