A fan-favorite Marvel villain is joining the cast of Universal Pictures’ upcoming Miami Vice ’85. The actor will appear alongside Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler in Joseph Kosinski’s new take on the classic crime series.
According to Deadline, Walton Goggins will play a henchman working for the cartel boss played by John Leguizamo. The role was reportedly one Kosinski wanted Goggins for, but the actor’s schedule for Fallout had to be worked out before the deal could be completed. Goggins is also known for playing Sonny Burch in Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp. He currently stars as Cooper Howard, better known as The Ghoul, in Prime Video’s Fallout.
The casting gives the film another recognizable genre performer as it builds its version of the Miami criminal underworld. Goggins’ character will work for Leguizamo’s cartel boss, putting him directly within the organized crime story that brings Crockett and Tubbs together.
The project also brings several new stars into the franchise’s familiar undercover crime setup.
