Na Hong-jin’s latest film brings together an unusual cast. The sci-fi thriller is set in a remote village in South Korea. The movie marks the director’s first feature since his acclaimed 2016 horror film The Wailing.
NEON’s Hope will be available to rent or buy digitally starting Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The distributor has also opened preorders for the Blu-ray release, with special features including behind-the-scenes footage and conversations featuring Na Hong-jin and fellow filmmaker Bong Joon Ho.

The October 13 date appears on digital retailer listings, although the supplied reports indicate that NEON hasn’t confirmed it through a separate formal announcement. The Blu-ray release date also remains unconfirmed.
Hope follows police outpost chief Bum-seok, played by Hwang Jung-min, and officer Sung-ae as they investigate violent attacks near the village of Hope Harbor. The attacks initially appear to involve a mysterious creature in the nearby forest. As local hunters join the search, the investigation reveals a threat that challenges the community’s understanding of what is happening around them.
The film features Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander as members of an alien clan. The cast also includes Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Taylor Russell and Cameron Britton.
Na Hong-jin premiered Hope at the Cannes Film Festival before NEON brought it to theaters on September 9. The theatrical version was shorter than the festival cut, which reportedly ran for two hours and 40 minutes. The version released in theaters ran for approximately two hours and 26 minutes. The film received a mixed response while its production design drew praise.
