To strengthen traffic coordination and transport management along Marcos Highway, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and the local government units of Pasig City, Marikina City, Antipolo City, and Cainta, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding that aims to establish a unified approach to addressing congestion, road obstructions, and other concerns along the major thoroughfare.
According to the MMDA, the agency and four LGUs will prioritize the continuous clearing of obstructions, illegally parked vehicles, and unauthorized structures (including unofficial terminals) that impede the free flow of traffic along Marcos Highway within their respective jurisdictions.

Along with this, the LGUs will also provide traffic personnel along roads connecting to Marcos Highway and ensure that the thoroughfare is adequately manned and consistently supervised.

The signing was attended by MMDA chairman Don Artes, Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto, Marikina mayor Marjorie Ann Teodoro, Antipolo mayor Casimiro Ynares III, and Cainta mayor Johnielle Keith Nieto. The MMDA says the agreement was prompted by an incident on December 6, 2025, when motorists endured six hours of standstill traffic, with prolonged delays lasting until early hours of December 7.

“I thank the MMDA for taking the lead on this effort,” said Nieto. Meanwhile, Ynares emphasized support, saying: “We are more than willing to be part of a unified system.”
“The portion of Marcos Highway within Pasig is only about 70 meters. We are very thankful to the MMDA, especially under the leadership of Chairman Artes, for this initiative,” added Sotto.
“This is a good effort to unify traffic management. It would be a great help for Marikina,” said Teodoro.
