BYD Cars Philippines and the Muntinlupa LGU have partnered to electrify a portion of the city’s police fleet. The automotive company turned over eight BYD Dolphin patrol cars, strengthening police operations and advancing the city’s green technology program.
The eight units were assigned directly to the Muntinlupa Police Station to support Philippine National Police operations in the city, including daily law enforcement activities and road patrols. According to BYD, the new patrol cars are expected to “deliver significant operational savings compared to traditional internal combustion engine patrol cars,” adding that the EVs possess lower maintenance requirements and zero fuel costs.

With Muntinlupa’s long-term sustainability roadmap, the shift to electrified patrol cars is a milestone that aligns with the city’s broader green transport initiatives. BYD says this vehicle turnover adds to its growing list of fleet partnerships with government agencies as part of a “broader push to make electric mobility a practical, cost-effective option for public service fleets across the Philippines.”

“The acquisition of the BYD Dolphins is a part of the long-term investment in clean energy that Muntinlupa has already committed to,” said Muntinlupa City mayor Ruffy Biazon. “With electric patrol cars, our police force can stay on the road longer without worry and gives them a more reliable way to serve our community.”
“Muntinlupa’s decision to electrify its police fleet reflects the kind of forward-thinking leadership we hope to see in more local governments,” shared BYD managing director Bob Palanca. “At BYD Cars Philippines, we want to be a genuine partner to LGUs as they move toward cleaner, more cost-efficient public service fleets, and this is a strong example of what that partnership looks like in practice.”
