Multi-coloured, earth-toned bricks wrap the facade of this eight-storey residential project on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn, which is shown in this Instagram carousel created by Dezeen for Glen-Gery.

Designed by Brooklyn-based NA Design Studio, the development features Danish colour bricks supplied by North American brick manufacturer Glen-Gery.

540 Atlantic Avenue features Danish bricks supplied by Glen-Gery

The bricks have red, beige and subtle grey tones with a sand finish and are part of Glen-Gery's Cushwa Series, a range that integrates the company's 150 years of brickmaking.

The brick facade follows a vertical running bond layout and a protruding brick pattern laid horizontally.

The project provides 159 units with an additional 4,843 square feet (450 square metres) of ground-floor commercial space.

The brick facade was laid on insulation boards affixed directly to the concrete structure.

The brick frames floor-to-ceiling windows up to the fifth floor and was moulded using sand as a release agent, creating variations in texture and colour across the facade.

NA Design Studio introduced symmetrical stepped setbacks above the fifth floor, creating space for outdoor terraces for residents.

The project highlights how Glen-Gery's modern masonry can be used within urban environments.

The masonry brand offers over 600 brick products available in different sizes and textures.

The building is located on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill, Brooklyn

Other projects recently completed using Glen-Gery products include a Maryland high-rise, a New Jersey residence designed by Brooklyn-based architecture firm Studio PHH and a mixed-use building in New York City by US architect Morris Adjmi.
