In a video shared by the agency, stacks of blue cans of Bullet energy drinks were seen piled up in a storage area, alongside loose cans and cardboard boxes.

The clip also showed a large blue plastic barrel containing discarded materials, as well as two men seated on the floor against a wall.

Other scenes showed empty bottles of alcoholic beverages, bottle caps, corks, labels and packaging materials scattered across the floor and stored in boxes and bags.

A bottle of Martell cognac was also seen among the materials, while plastic bags containing caps and seals, printed labels and other packaging items were displayed in what appeared to be a makeshift production space.

According to NAFDAC, the two suspects were arrested at the scene while allegedly revalidating energy drinks and popular wine and whisky brands.

The development comes amid calls from Nigerians for NAFDAC to strengthen its surveillance and regulatory oversight to curb the circulation of counterfeit and substandard products in the country.

There has been recent concerns about the safety and authenticity of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages sold to consumers, particularly where products are repackaged or relabelled without proper regulatory oversight.

NAFDAC is saddled with the responsibility if regulating and controlling the manufacture, importation, exportation, distribution, , sale and use of food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, chemicals and packaged water in Nigeria.
