A new champion has been crowned and the future looks bright for one of NBC’s most enduring athletic competitions. The series, a staple of summer programming for nearly two decades, will continue its run as the network has committed to two additional seasons. The announcement comes as the Season 18 finale delivered high drama and a first-time titleholder.

American Ninja Warrior Season 18 crowns its winner

American Ninja Warrior’s coveted trophy and a $250,000 grand prize went to 21-year-old Josiah Pippel in Season 18. Pippel, who first appeared on the show at just 15 years old, gave a dominant performance throughout the competition. He battled through the Qualifiers, Regionals, and National Finals, outperforming more than 200 of the country’s best ninjas on a series of high-stakes obstacle courses designed to test speed, strength, and endurance.

This season introduced the Tripleheader, an all-new supersized three-lane racecourse that raised the stakes with thrilling head-to-head-to-head races. Pippel’s journey to the top started with a first-place finish in his Qualifying round and a successful climb up the Mega Wall. After dominating the Regional rounds, he secured the #2 seed in the Final Round of 32.

Competing in his sixth consecutive season without ever missing the National Finals, Pippel returned with a renewed focus on speed and precision following a disappointing early exit in the Season 17 Finals. That motivation proved to be the difference maker.

American Ninja Warrior renewed for two more seasons

NBC is already working on Seasons 19 and 20, with all rounds of American Ninja Warrior filming in Las Vegas later this year. The renewal ensures the competition remains a fixture on the network’s schedule.

Season 19 will see the return of the iconic Mt. Midoriyama. Looking further ahead, Season 20 will celebrate the sport’s inclusion in the 2028 Olympic Games. The network plans a special Summer of Champions event, featuring several former Olympians and elite ninja champions from more than 15 countries around the world.
